The Animal Care Team is responsible for maintaining the health and well-being of all animals at the Pensacola Humane Society, ensuring the Five Freedoms of animal care, while treating all co-workers, customers, volunteers, donors and visitors in a professional and polite manner. The Animal Care Attendant, part of the Animal Care Team, is also responsible for the adoption of animals and the promotion of animals through outreach on PHS social media, kennel cards, and conversations with potential adopters at the adoption center and at community events.

Typical Duties :
Customer Service: Assist customers in selecting animals for adoption; facilitates educational tours for interested groups while explaining applicable animal control laws, ordinances, and responsible pet ownership best practices and assists with a lost or stray pet as needed; assists clients with access to the Pet Food Pantry, taking in donations and otherwise providing high quality customer service. Interacts with, helps to train and monitors volunteers as part of the Animal Care Team.
Animal Care :
Includes cleaning and disinfecting of animal habitats and kennels; maintaining facility aesthetics; feeding, watering, and grooming animals; monitoring the security of facilities; monitoring animals for illness, disease, and/or injury; evaluating animals for adoption potential; socializing animals in care; assisting Animal Care Manager with administering medication and vaccines; and/or performing other related activities in the daily care.
Administrative: Prepares and maintains a variety of files, records, reports, agreements, logs and/or other related information. Able to use a computer or movile device to process adoptions and other daily reporting.
Other :
Animal Care Attendants take direction from the Executive Director, Medical Director and all veterinarians on PHS staff. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Pet Care Manager of a similar nature or level. Assessing animal health or behavior without proper education and/or licenses is not permitted.
