Compensation :
The Animal Control Office and Shelter Support Staff is a full time, non-exempt position and requires a minimum of 36 hours a week. Additional compensation for on-call after hours duties is provided. The pay range is $24 - 28 per hour.

Job Definition :
The Animal Control Officer is responsible for enforcing animal control laws and regulations, ensuring the safety and well-being of animals and the community. This role involves investigating complaints, rescuing stray or injured animals, and working with local agencies and organizations to promote responsible pet ownership. The Animal Control Officer will be based at the Leadville Lake County Animal Shelter and when not on animal control calls or working cases for the Leadville Police Department will support the animal shelter in office administration and Shelter Technician capacities.

The position will involve working both indoors and outdoors; completing tasks such as writing reports, cleaning kennels, apprehending loose or aggressive animals, professional correspondences, etc.
This portion of the job will require sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, standing, hearing, speaking and lifting containers or animals up to or over 30 pounds, as well as handling fractious animals. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, and the ability to adjust focus.
