Job Description
**Job Title: Marketing Specialist**
**Location:** Semi-remote with hubs in San Francisco and Boston
**About Us:**
We are a dynamic edtech startup dedicated to transforming the educational journey for families. Our platform simplifies the process of finding, applying, registering, and paying for school and programs for children, all from a common application system. We also power backend admissions and operational workflows, making it easier for schools, districts, and educational providers to serve students equitably. Think of us as "OpenTable for Education" or "Mindbody for Schools."
**Our Mission:**
We are on a mission to promote equity and access to education by providing a universal application for PK-12 education, daycare, and enrichment programs. We work with school districts, charter networks, cities, states, nonprofits, and NGOs to streamline operations and increase enrollment.
**Role Overview:**
We are seeking a talented and versatile marketer to join our growing team. As our second marketing hire, you will collaborate with leaders across the company and industry to build our brand and grow our pipeline. Reporting to the Marketing Lead, you will co-own the entire marketing playbook - from planning and development to execution and performance measurement. Your primary focus will be on demand generation activities, including paid advertising.
**Responsibilities:**
- Run multi-channel campaigns
- Manage events and conferences
- Build demand-generation programs
- Grow and engage our social media presence
- Develop high-impact content and collateral
**Specific Tasks:**
- Build Lead Lists: Identify customers matching our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and create lists with contact info for outbound targeting using tools like LinkedIn, RocketReach, and district websites.
- Cold Outreach: Write and send highly targeted cold emails to prospects and collaborate with team members to scale your efforts.
- Website: Co-manage our website content and copy, including updating with the latest messaging and positioning.
- Social Media: Create and post content regularly, and develop and execute a broader plan to grow our following.
- Webinars: Organize webinar series with speakers, build and execute campaigns to ensure registrations, and share recordings with mailing lists.
- Content: Write and/or repurpose content for our blog, social media, and nurture emails.
- Conferences: Manage our event calendar, event sponsorships, booth setup, and coordinate attendance and post-event follow-ups.
- Sales Enablement: Answer questions from the sales team and provide collateral and materials.
**Qualifications:**
- Experience: 4-8 years in marketing, with exposure to multiple functions (e.g., product marketing, content creation, demand generation, communications, design, events, advertising, and social media), and strong expertise in demand-gen and digital marketing preferred.
- Execution: Proven ability to take projects from concept to completion, managing timelines, stakeholders, and outcomes effectively.
- Skills: You are somewhat of a Swiss Army Knife in that you can plan campaigns, manage projects, write copy, handle some design work, build and present reports, and represent the company publicly.
- Flexibility: Comfort with ambiguity, working independently in a dynamic environment, and juggling competing priorities with ease.
- Tech Savviness: Experience with tools like HubSpot, Canva, and Asana.
- Travel: Ability to travel domestically a few times per quarter for events and team gatherings. Must live within 45 minutes of a major airport (e.g., SFO, OAK, BOS).
- Industry Background: Familiarity with the education and/or edtech space is a nice-to-have.
**Why Join Us?**
- **Impact:** Play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a mission-driven company at the forefront of educational innovation.
- **Autonomy:** Enjoy the freedom to own your projects while having the support of a collaborative team.
- **Growth:** Expand your skill set, take on new challenges, and grow your career as we scale.
- **Flexibility:** Work remotely with occasional in-person collaboration opportunities.
**Compensation:**
- Salary: $90,000 - $140,000
- Generous equity and a competitive benefits package
**Benefits:**
- Significant equity
- Flexible work policies
