Job Description

Role Purpose

Responsible for building and maintaining robust content offerings and subscriber growth across Dan Harris and 10% Media's social platforms, including Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, YouTube, and TikTok.

The ideal candidate is passionate about Dan's specific brand and message, social media strategy, and community engagement. They have extraordinarily high attention to detail and organizational skill, strong communication skills, and a proven track record of producing engaging, high-quality work across platforms.

Experience Requirement

Candidates should come to the role with 3+ years of experience leading social media for a creator or brand.

Location

All 10% Media employees are remote, but the Social Media Manager should live in or around New York City and be comfortable traveling into Manhattan and/or north into the suburbs semi-regularly. (Transportation costs will be covered.)

Social Media Strategy and Execution

Strategy:

  • Draws on extensive knowledge of current social media platforms and trends, as well as significant experience leading a brand's social media initiatives, to create the vision for Dan's social media presence across all platforms
  • Regularly identifies strengths and weaknesses in current strategy and suggests actionable improvements

Execution:

  • Serves as a reliably creative thought partner for Dan Harris and the Head of Content 
  • Builds and maintains efficient and transparent production and communication systems and is able to organize and keep track of incoming ideas from Dan and the team
  • Has a strong ability to prioritize short-, medium-, and long-term initiatives with logic and flexibility 
  • Builds and maintains long-term production calendar while also allowing space for quick pivots that meet the moment
  • Manages production budget responsibly and transparently
  • Manages subcontractors, when needed, with clarity and integrity
  • Produces, shoots, and edits high-quality content
  • Holds finished videos, graphic carousels, and other types of content to high standards, aiming for aligned brand tone, visual appeal, coherent storylines, seamless transitions, proper color grading, effective additional assets (e.g., audio and visual effects), and overall appeal
  • Writes effective captions that reflect Dan's voice / the 10% Happier brand tone
  • Posts to proper channels in a timely manner
  • Communicates effectively with outside talent and partner institutions to build relationships and collaborations

  • Defines metrics to measure performance (e.g., engagement, follower growth), tracks and analyzes metrics, and builds processes for continuous performance and financial improvement.
