Job Title: Assistant Manager - Part-time Seasonal (Winter)
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join our team for the winter season. This position is located at a bustling downtown rink, which is a popular destination for ice skating and ice bumper car activities, attracting over 50,000 visitors during the winter months. As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in the daily operations, customer service, and event management of the rink.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the winter ice skating and ice bumper car operations, including managing the front ticket office and supervising seasonal staff.
- Assist with the opening and closing of the facility.
- Help with facility management and event management, including supervising full ice and facility rentals, typically occurring on weekend mornings.
- Coordinate food and beverage services.
- Assist with marketing, social media, and website management.
- Help train staff and ensure excellent customer service standards are met.
- Communicate effectively and positively with customers and staff.
- Inform patrons about skating rink rules.
- Address issues such as scheduling, conduct, inter-staff conflict, maintenance (skates & ice bumper cars), facility issues, time-off requests, and availability conflicts.
- Monitor the ice skating rink for any injuries or challenges.
- Train on the Lilypad POS system, ticket selling, customer service, and communication.
- Plan and manage events, including setup, breakdown, safety, and coordination with guests and staff.
- Assist with generating social media content.
- Work evening and weekend hours as needed.
- Complete incident reports when necessary.
- Supervise Skate Hosts, Ticket Sellers, and the Rental Room during the winter season.
- Maintain clear and positive communication with all staff.
- Restock merchandise and party supplies as needed.
- Balance the cash drawer.
- Ensure frontline staff complete their daily tasks.
- Update all point of sale records.
- Supervise setups, events, and breakdowns.
- Supervise cleaning staff.
- Work with event organizers.
- Collaborate with safety personnel to ensure patron safety.
- Assist with property walkthroughs when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience in customer service in a public setting.
- A completed bachelor's degree is preferred, with studies in sport management, recreation management, business, event management, or related fields.
- Willingness to work outdoors and independently with guidance from the City Center Manager.
- Experience with a POS system, handling cash, and opening/closing a facility. Food & beverage, retail, or customer service experience is preferred.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Availability for weekend, evening, and regular business hours.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification is preferred. Basic first aid must be acquired within the first three months.
- Availability for at least two holidays and during school vacations (12/23/24-1/2/25 & 2/17/25-2/23/25).
- We are open on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.
- Experience in customer service, retail, food & beverage, or other applicable areas.
