Job Overview

The Department of Engineering and Computing Education (DECE) within the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for up to two non-tenure track position(s) at the level of an Assistant/Associate Professor – Educator to support its educational mission. Rank/title will be based on credentials. DECE provides a number of common courses, including those taken by all first-year engineering students (e.g., Introduction to Engineering Design Thinking I and II) .

 

This position will focus on teaching DECE undergraduate and graduate courses, as assigned, at UC and at a collaborative Chinese university, including but not limited to the Joint Co-op Institute (JCI) at Chongqing University (CQU) in Chongqing, China. JCI is a joint venture between UC and CQU. Such courses will be taught in English.

Essential Functions

  • Teach first-year engineering courses, with opportunities to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering education as permitted by the candidate’s qualifications.
  • Engage in scholarly activities (i.e., one or more forms of scholarship that include: Scholarship of Discovery; Scholarship of Teaching and Learning; Scholarship of Integration; and/or Scholarship of Application) and publish and/or present findings from the scholarly activities at conferences.
  • Perform service at the Department (e.g., student career mentoring, advising of student organizations, and performing outreach activities), College, University, and professional societies levels; nurture collaborations across the college and campus; and work to achieve departmental, college, and university strategic goals.
  • Further the department’s goals with its first-year educational program through collegial collaboration and teamwork both within the Department of Engineering & Computing Education and with other CEAS departments and UC Colleges.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a Ph.D. in Engineering Education or closely related field prior to effective date of the appointment.
  • Candidates will be required to obtain immigration documents for entry/work eligibility into China.
