The Database Systems Administrator works under the primary supervision of the Director of Information Technology Support. Database Systems Administrator to manage and maintain our database systems. The ideal candidate will ensure the performance, availability, and security of our databases, and will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of critical database systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ?
Primary duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Install, configure, and maintain database servers and processes.
Monitor system performance and ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Perform database tuning and optimization.
Plan and implement backup and recovery strategies.
Manage database access and security.
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
Develop and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions.
Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions.
Stay updated with the latest database technologies and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
An individual, to perform this job successfully, must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
In-depth knowledge of database management systems (DBMS), such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, SSRS, PowerBi , or PostgreSQL.
Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and performance tuning.
Experience with database backup, recovery, and security.
Proficiency in SQL and database scripting.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Certification in database administration (e.g., Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator) is a plus.

Customer service skills.
The ability to work with others in one-to-one and small group environments is required.
Must have effective verbal and written communication.
Solid troubleshooting skills using both deductive and inductive reasoning are necessary.
Must have the ability to plan, schedule, and complete tasks and projects promptly and meet deadlines.
Must be able to make decisions in stressful situations.
