The Employment Development Department's Human Resource Services Division's (HRSD) Selection Services Group (SSG) is looking for a motivated, creative team member to join our challenging environment.

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the incumbent performs selection services functions, including job analysis, examination development and administration, pre-employment hiring clearance, and other personnel and selection work projects. Interprets and applies civil service laws, rules, regulations, and departmental policies in the resolution of all selection functions.

Statement of Qualifications Requirements

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is Required. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.  The SOQ is not a resume or cover letter.

The SOQ should be typed and no more than one page in length, single-spaced and no less than 12 point font and must include a response to both statements below, including specific examples:

  1. Describe your background, experience, education, and/or training which qualifies you for the position as identified in the Duty Statement and in the Desirable Qualifications.
  2. Describe a situation in which you were tasked with the following:
  • required to independently identify a problem;
  • performed research to identify possible solutions;
  • completed a thorough analysis;
  • wrote a comprehensive report that addressed the problem and recommended a course of action.

If you do not have experience in this area, include examples of similar experience that would demonstrate your ability or potential to perform this function.

Your SOQ will be considered the first phase of the hiring process for this position. If your qualifications are competitive, you will be invited to come in for an interview.
