Position: Insurance Authorization and Scheduling Specialist

Location:

This is a remote position. However, remote work is a privilege, not an entitlement. Adherence to productivity and professionalism is required to maintain eligibility.

Candidates must reside in one of the following states and operate on Eastern Standard Time (EST): CT, DC, FL, GA, MD, NY, NC, OH, PA, SC, or VA.

Position Overview:

The Insurance Authorization and Scheduling Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring patients have the necessary insurance coverage for the services provided. This position involves close interaction with patients and insurance companies to facilitate a seamless patient experience. A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key responsibilities include managing insurance verifications, obtaining authorizations, maintaining accurate records, and scheduling procedures while ensuring timely and professional service.

Key Responsibilities:

Insurance Authorization:

  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary referrals for patients.
  • Update patient information and maintain accurate records in the system.
  • Prepare and submit documentation required for billing.
  • Conduct online benefits verification, pre-authorization, and eligibility checks.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of insurance benefits, exclusions, and co-insurance.
  • Collaborate with team members in a fast-paced environment, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Scheduling:

  • Answer incoming calls and assist with patient intake and scheduling.
  • Collect and accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Provide clear communication to patients regarding appointments and any requirements.
  • Work closely with referral sources to obtain additional information or update them on scheduling statuses.
  • Address patient inquiries and concerns related to accounts or scheduling.

Additional Expectations:

  • Maintain a high level of detail and organization in all tasks.
  • Adhere to a 90-day probation period with no missed days, tardiness, or early departures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in insurance pre/prior authorization (minimum 1 year).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance portals.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Must have an appropriate home office setup with reliable internet.
  • Excellent attendance record in previous roles.
