Legal Billing Specialist Chicago, IL Full Time Role Summary The Legal Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the full billing cycle in a law firm setting, ensuring accurate and timely client invoicing, including e-billing. This role involves close collaboration with billing attorneys to enforce billing policies, manage rate structures, process payments, and support accounts receivable efforts. The specialist also handles vendor invoices, ad hoc reporting, and other billing/bookkeeping duties. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all stages of the monthly billing cycle Partner with attorneys and clients to track and collect receivables Ensure compliance with billing arrangements, discounts, and adjustments Respond to billing-related inquiries and generate reports Process client payments (checks, ACH, credit cards) Enter vendor invoices and support A/P functions Assist with general bookkeeping and special tasks Requirements: 4+ years of billing experience in a law firm or professional services environment Strong understanding of basic accounting principles Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with high accuracy Clear communication skills with staff and clients at all levels Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive) Experience with legal billing platforms like Centerbase, TyMetrix, CounselLink, or Legal Tracker is a plus Positive work ethic and strong attendance record
