Job Summary

The Network Engineer designs, recommends, documents, and monitors network, server, web, phone, and data communications hardware/software. In addition, the Network Engineer assists the Senior Network Engineer(s) in the planning, configuration, implementation and troubleshooting of wired and wireless communication infrastructure, supporting data, voice, and video in converged and non-converged configurations. This includes assisting on projects by researching, evaluating, and recommending appropriate network, security, web, phone hardware/software solutions and improvements. This position also provides advanced technical training and support to the Information Technology staff.

Essential Functions:

• Configures, and monitors networking equipment in a redundant environment with real time failover including Firewalls, Core Routing, Switching, and Wireless infrastructure
• Secures network system by enforcing Security policies
• Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network administrators and IT Security
• Assists in the development and testing of disaster recovery
• Cross-discipline work with Systems Engineering as required
• Provide support on a 24x7 basis as required
• Taking direction from IT management; implement routing and switching protocols
• Implements systems that match our design criteria including but not limited to: security, scalability, availability, compatibility
• Resolve, recommend, develop, and implement forward-looking strategies for satisfying business needs and maintaining technical currency with assigned systems
• Assist as primary source of technical expertise to project teams
• Assist with follow through of projects to their completion
• Partners with Security to ensure compliance and enforcement of Security Guidelines
• Adhere to, mature, and define the best practices for the support and deployment of our infrastructure across the enterprise stack (routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, load balancing and DNS)
• Be a subject matter expert in reducing and resolving production network related incidents
• Enhance proactive monitoring and drive proactive remediation efforts
• Provide and demonstrate to Technical Support and Systems administrators the tools and processes to resolve most incidents and issues
• Configure and manage multiple systems (DNS, DHCP, Virtual Datacenter, Network, etc.) and infrastructure both OnPrem and in the Cloud

Minimum Requirements

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP or CCDP), Fortinet Network Certified Professional (NSE), Network +, Security +, or other related certification
• Prior experience building and managing MPLS and SD-WAN network
• Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent years of experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience in all aspects of network or systems administration utilizing Cisco iOS and Fortinet’s FortiOS
• Experience with the Windows Server/Linux/VMware/Azure Environments
• Experience with network management protocols and systems
• Experience with wireless technologies
• Experience with TCP/IP and common network protocols
• Experience with routing, switching, and IP subnetting
• Experience with VPN and remote technologies
