The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
1.0 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
The Rabbi shall perform the following tasks and meet the associated performance standards:
1.1 Pastoral Care:
1.1.1 Provide pastoral care to Jewish recruits: This includes pastoral counseling, spiritual guidance, and support in accordance with Jewish doctrine. Provide oversight and training of volunteers to support pastoral care.
1.1.2 Performance Standard: Provide a religious service each Sunday at MCRD and on other special service days (6 per year as listed in section 1.3). Maintain a log of pastoral care activities, summarizing the type of care provided and the number of recruits served.
1.2 Religious Education:
1.2.1 Provide religious education for Jewish recruits: This program shall adhere to Jewish doctrine as outlined by the governing body of the Jewish tradition to which the Rabbi belongs.
1.2.2 Performance Standard: Conduct religious education sessions as scheduled and maintain attendance records. Provide a quarterly report summarizing the topics covered, participation levels, and any feedback received.
1.3 Religious Observations:
1.3.1 Conduct Jewish services: This includes a service each Sunday and on special holidays.
1.3.2 Performance Standard: Conduct Jewish services as scheduled and maintain a record of services performed. Ensure all records of ritual participation are properly documented and maintained. These services include a weekly service every Sunday, and the following six (6) additional services:
a. Special Service Days (Dates are determined by the Jewish Calendar)
i. Rosh hashana
ii. Yom Kippur
iii. Hanukkah (One service during the holiday)
iv. Passover (One service during the holiday)
v. Sukkot
vi. Shavout
1.4 General Requirements:
1.4.1 Collaboration: Collaborate with Religious Ministries, any assigned military or contract chaplains, and other relevant personnel to ensure effective coordination of Jewish religious services.
1.4.2 Compliance: Ensure all services and activities comply with Jewish doctrine, Navy, and Marine Corps regulations and instructions.
1.4.3 Training and Oversight: If the Rabbi employs or utilizes other individuals to assist in providing services, the Rabbi is responsible for their training, oversight, and ensuring they meet the required qualifications and standards.
2.0 PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Qualifications:
The Rabbi shall provide personnel meeting the following qualifications:
2.1.1 Ordination: Certified Rabbi in good standing with their faith group or rabbinical authority. Good standing must be verified by a letter from the appropriate authority.
2.1.2 Ecclesiastical Endorsement:
Ecclesiastical Endorsement is not a requirement, but the Rabbi will either already have a relationship with either Aleph or the Jewish Welfare Board. If not, they will establish a relationship with one of the organization in the first six months of the contract period.
2.1.3 Background Check: Successful background criminal history check at the local, state, and national levels, compliant with Public Law 101-647, Section 231, and DoD Instruction 1402.2. Must be completed within the past twelve months.
2.2 Additional Requirements:
2.2.1 Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with chaplains, military personnel, and other staff in a pluralistic environment. Report any concerns to the Command Chaplain.
2.2.2 People Skills: Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with military personnel.
2.2.3 Military Protocol: Knowledge of military protocol, customs, and courtesies, or a demonstrated willingness to learn these within the first 90 days of the contract, in accordance with SECNAVINST 1730.7E and Marine Corps Order 1730.6E.
2.2.4 Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Desktop Publishing software. Department staff are available to provide assistance if needed.
3.0 WORSHIP SERVICES AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
The Rabbi shall provide the following services:
3.1 Weekly Services: Jewish service every Sunday.
3.2 Special Holidays: Jewish service on each special holiday. These include:
• Rosh hashana
• Yom Kippur
• Hanukkah (One service during the holiday)
• Passover (One service during the holiday)
• Sukkot
• Shavout
Religious Education is included in the weekly service.
