Job Description

The Parts Counter employee will be a critical hire in our dealership's parts department. This individual will play a vital role in ensuring that customers receive a high level of service by providing them with the necessary parts and advice for their vehicles.

The responsibilities of the Parts Counter staff member are as follows:

  • Assisting walk-in customers in finding the correct parts for their vehicles. This involves working closely with the customer to understand their needs, using our computer system for parts lookup, and providing expertise about the parts that we offer
  • Serving as the first point of contact for all customers, helping improve their overall experience at our dealership. This job role requires excellent communication, with a strong emphasis on customer service
  • Helping to maintain inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies
  • Completing all transactions in a dedicated and thorough manner, documenting all applicable warranty facts, and making sure everything adheres to established procedures.
  • Following all safety occupations and health rules applicable to the workplace.

What we're looking for in qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or a GED equivalent is required for this position
  • Prior automotive parts experience is strongly preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate
  • Strong customer service and communication skills are needed in this role. The ability to speak with customers and explain complex ideas in a way they can understand is vital
  • Must be computer literate, having good knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and ordering/inventory technologies
  • A successful candidate will be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods
