Pharmacy technicians have many responsibilities, including filling prescriptions, managing inventory, and interacting with patients. They work closely with pharmacists to ensure the accuracy and safety of medication. Prescription processing Collect information from customers or health professionals to fill prescriptions, Measure and package medications, Label prescriptions, and Verify doses and medical profiles. Inventory management Take stock counts and reconcile with computer records, Check for accuracy when orders are received, Stock shelves, Alert pharmacists to shortages, and Check for expired medications. Patient interaction Answer phone calls from customers, Arrange for customers to speak with pharmacists, and Assess and understand potential drug interactions. Insurance verification track and record patient details, manage pharmacy accounts, receive payments, process receipts, and process insurance claims.
