The Statistics for Development Division (SDD)’s goal is support “strong Pacific Island statistics systems that meet local and global statistics needs for evidence-based policy, planning and monitoring.” SDD has a regional statistical system leadership and coordination role; and also supports the region directly in data infrastructure, collection, statistical methodology, analysis and dissemination.
The role – Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) Adviser is responsible for coordinating planning and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) for the Statistics for Development Division and its priority projects, as well as for supporting implementation of the Strategic Framework for Pacific Statistics 2022-2030. This role is responsible for supporting a priority project named Pacific Statistics and Data (phase 2) which supports the Pacific Data Hub (PDH) to work collaboratively to implement strategic data management, capability strengthening, and capacity building projects that support the production, improve access and enhance the utility of data for sustainable development in the Pacific.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) for SDD and priority projects
Manage SDD’s contribution to SPC-wide Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, Reflection and Learning
SDD planning and priority project planning and coordination
Programme, project development, design, and resource mobilisation

Contract Duration – Until 30 June 2027 – subject to renewal depending on funding and performance
Remuneration – The Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Adviser is a band 11 position in SPC’s 2025 salary scale, with a starting salary range of 3,245‒4,057 SDR (special drawing rights) per month, which currently converts to approximately FJD 9,768–12,211 (USD 4,316–5,395; EUR 3,975–4,969). An offer of appointment for an initial contract will normally be made in the lower half of this range, with due consideration given to experience and qualifications. Progression within the salary scale will be based on annual performance reviews. Remuneration of expatriate SPC staff members is not subject to income tax in Fiji; Fiji nationals employed by SPC in Fiji will be subject to income tax.
Benefits for Staff in a position advertised internationally (EPAI) whose duty station is Suva – SPC provides a housing allowance of FJD 1,500–5,200 per month. Establishment and repatriation grant, removal expenses, airfares, home leave travel, health and life and disability insurances and education allowances are available for eligible employees and their eligible dependents. Employees are entitled to 25 working days of annual leave per annum and other types of leave, and access to SPC’s Provident Fund (contributing 8% of salary, to which SPC adds a 10% contribution).
