Location: New York, Hybrid Role (3 days in office / 2 days remote)

We are looking for a talented Quantitative Model Engineer to join our dynamic transaction surveillance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your quantitative expertise and knowledge of financial markets to develop advanced systems that safeguard market integrity by identifying potential threats such as market manipulation, fraud, and money laundering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect cutting-edge surveillance models to detect evolving manipulation patterns across global financial markets.
  • Collaborate with compliance leadership to ensure that surveillance systems not only meet but exceed regulatory expectations.
  • Translate quantitative experience into algorithms with high accuracy to detect suspicious trading and cashiering activities.
  • Perform comprehensive data analysis on expansive financial datasets, including hundreds of millions of daily orders and millions of trades.
  • Evaluate and enhance model performance to optimize detection accuracy while minimizing false positives.
  • Document methodologies robustly to withstand regulatory scrutiny and examination.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong programming skills, particularly in Python.
  • Professional experience of 5+ years (3+ for Master’s, 1+ for PhD) in market surveillance.
  • Expertise in at least one domain: large-scale financial data analysis, market manipulation detection methodologies, or regulatory-driven feature engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in regulatory roles at institutions like the SEC, FINRA, or major securities exchanges.
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • Proficiency in Python data science tools such as pandas, scikit-learn, xgboost, or catboost.
  • Deep understanding of market microstructure and trading strategies.
  • Specialized knowledge in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and market manipulation typologies.
