Job Description As a Senior Indirect Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate sales and use tax compliance across multiple U.S. jurisdictions. You will evaluate revenue streams, billing systems, and tax processes to ensure proper tax computation and reporting. This role involves direct interaction with internal stakeholders and external agencies, requiring strong communication and analytical skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyze and reconcile monthly tax reports from various billing systems
- Prepare, review, and file sales, use, and personal property tax returns
- Research and monitor state tax law changes to advise on taxability and nexus
- Respond to escalated tax-related billing inquiries
- Identify and implement reverse use tax refund opportunities
- Support indirect tax audits and respond to government notices
- Drive automation and process improvements using tax software
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve tax issues and ensure compliance
Qualifications Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 5 years of multi-state sales and use tax experience
- Minimum 2 years of multi-state property tax experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote, Teams)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to diverse audiences
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with Oracle ERP systems
- Familiarity with Vertex sales tax software
- Experience using PTMS property tax software
