Job Description

Sign-On Bonus: $3,000

  • Full License: $30.90 – $40.89/hour
  • Limited License: $28.68 – $37.91/hour

Shift & Schedule:

  • Shift Type: Days
  • Shift Times: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Hours/Day: 8
  • Shift Notes: Must maintain flexible work schedules and cell phone availability as needed. Will need to be available to TFCO clients 7 days a week, 24 hours per day for on-call rotation.
  • Weekend Requirements: Varies
  • On Call Requirements: On Rotation

Position Overview:

The Child and Family Therapist provides mental health treatment and case management services. Services are delivered in the home or community based on the needs and preferences of the family. Must be willing and able to work a non-traditional schedule based on family needs.

The Therapist delivers TFCO clinical services , implementing interventions consistent with the model, including behavioral therapy targeting school and family behavior. They help families develop collaborative relationships with other human service organizations and support networks to ensure sustained progress after services end. The Therapist coordinates services across multiple providers and addresses barriers to effective service delivery.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly family therapy using the TFCO model, introducing and practicing behavioral coping and parenting skills with positive reinforcement.
  • Engage primary caregivers and other key participants in active, change-oriented treatment.
  • Identify and overcome barriers to engagement with families.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with families.
  • Provide direct clinical treatment using TFCO-compatible methods.
  • Coordinate services with mental health and medical professionals, including psychiatrists, physicians, and nurses.
  • Facilitate collateral contacts with schools and community organizations.
  • Advocate for families to help them achieve independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Link families with community resources.
  • Assist in scheduling psychiatric evaluations and medication reviews when children return home.
  • Identify and eliminate barriers to services.
  • Enhance existing community services and develop new ones as needed.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative community relationships.
  • Make referrals to Child Protective Services or Adult Protective Services as needed.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, case consultations, and trainings.
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy; crisis intervention; and case management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Travel: Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard (.64/mile) when personal vehicle is used.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology.
  • Licensure: Psychologist (TLLP supervised by LP), Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC or LPC supervised), Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW), or Limited Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LLMSW supervised). Must possess and retain current Michigan licensure.
  • Meet Michigan Department of Community Health requirements of a Child Mental Health Professional within 120 days of hire.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families.
  • Nonjudgmental approach reflecting cultural competency and sensitivity.
  • Ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with families.
  • Strong collaboration skills with other service providers.
  • Effective interpersonal communication and ability to intervene within complex family/community systems.
  • Flexibility, patience, and creativity in service delivery.
  • Favorable driving record; must obtain a chauffeur’s license within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Experience:

  • Working with families and within a team environment.
  • Administering social skills assessments and interventions.
  • Direct use of pragmatic family therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy with children and adults.
  • Electronic medical records.
