Brooks Wine is seeking a part-time (mostly weekends) Tasting Room Associates to serve, educate, and entertain our members and guests as they experience our award-winning wines, seasonal culinary offerings, and incredible views. We offer competitive pay, benefits and winery perks. The position can easily turn into full time during peak season with the potential for regular, year-round full time positions.
REQUIREMENTS:
At least 2 years of restaurant serving and/or tasting room experience is strongly preferred
Wine knowledge required as well as a desire to increase that knowledge
Wine Certifications through the Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET or Society of Wine Educators preferred but not required
OLCC Service Permit (or ability to get)
OR Food Handler (or ability to get)
Familiarity with C7 and/or TOCK a plus
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following reflects the essential functions for this job. Other tasks may be assigned from time to time.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Greet all visitors with enthusiasm and within one minute of arrival
Lead guests through wine tasting flights while educating them about the winery story, wines, commitments, events, wine club, and other offerings.
Ensure a fun and memorable customer experience.
Developing relationships with non-member guests to convert into Wine Club members
Create engagement opportunities with members to lengthen tenure of membership
Effectively sell wine, with the ability to “up-sell”
Other Daily Tasting Room Operations:
Set up / breaking down all indoor and outdoor tasting room spaces.
Open and verify condition of wines, decanting when appropriate.
Prepare printed guest materials.
Stock wine and merchandise on Tasting Room floor and store rooms.
Perform sales transactions for food and wine and for carry-out and shipping orders.
Maintain clean and organized guest spaces at all times.
Provide warm, engaging and professional customer service with the ability to develop rapport with customers.
Provide exceptional service and go the extra mile for all guests.
Represent the winery at outside functions when necessary.
Quickly recognize the signs that a guest should not be served alcohol, take appropriate action to professionally address.
Behave in a professional and mature manner at all times.
EXPECTATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must have or actively seek excellent knowledge of wine and pairings with enthusiasm and continually learn new information and share
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (via telephone, e-mail, slack app etc.) are required
Enthusiastic, passionate and dynamic communication style
Comfortable speaking in front of crowds
Self-aware, able to work independently, and driven to make a difference
Must have a positive attitude and outlook with the ability to work within a team atmosphere
Must remain calm under pressure
Must be able to work a weekends and some holidays
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
Must be able to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment
Must be able to work in a team environment
