TBSN Academic Advisor The TBSN Academic Advisor position at the Chalon campus is critical in ensuring remarkable service to students, faculty, and staff. The position is responsible for the academic advising of around
60% of the traditional BSN (TBSN) undergraduate class annually. This advisor position provides comprehensive academic advising for newly admitted and current nursing students at the Chalon campus. The TBSN Academic Advisor collaborates and guides students in establishing their progression, including general studies/LACE coursework. The TBSN Academic Advisor also contributes to the TBSN Advisement Department building of student programming each semester. The position addresses individual and unique student concerns to ensure the overall success of the student's educational, holistic experience. Additionally, the TBSN Academic Advisor must also understand incoming students' coursework transferability and the ability to provide accurate transfer credit information to the Mount community and current MSMU students.
Work Location: Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles). Hybrid work schedule available, with Supervisor approval.

Position Hourly Rate Range: $25.99 - $26.52
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Duties and Responsibilities: The following responsibilities relates to advisement:
- Advises assigned students and drop-ins on academic requirements, policies, and classes specific to their educational needs. The schedule is variable, mostly days.
- Maintains confidential student files and records, documents all pertinent academic information within the college, and upholds FERPA regulations.
- Assists with student worker recruitment, training, and supervision.
- Responds to student concerns/problems and refer students to appropriate resources, including counseling services.
- Maintains data and workflow in Perceptive Content, the document imaging system.
- Maintains data in Colleague, the student database system
- Maintains data in student planning, advising, and registration systems.
- Contributes to developing, creating, and delivering student programming on general education, summer classes, transfer coursework, and other related topics.
- Assists in department assessment processes, including data collection and reporting.
- Processes forms as needed, including Transfer Credit Contestation and Transfer of Credit Clearance forms.
- Assists with testing, including proctoring of exams.
- Oversees creating and evaluating programs to improve student outcomes, particularly for high-risk and diverse student populations.
The following responsibilities relates to supervision and collaboration:
- Hires, trains, and supervises Student Success Coordinators for the Nursing Department, ensuring the effective implementation of student success strategies and programs.
- Fosters collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, Program Directors, Student Affairs, the university academic advising team, and administrative offices to support student success and program development.
- Works as an active member of the Admission and Evaluation Committees.
The following relates to student retention and NCLEX-RN Success:
- Oversees initiatives to analyze and address factors affecting student retention and attrition.
- Collaborates with Nursing Department Leadership to develop and assess NCLEX-RN preparation services, monitoring program effectiveness and student progress.
- Provides student direction for academic advising, tutoring, and psycho-social support services.
- Supports faculty in student advisement with the at-risk student.
- Develops individualized education plans for identified high-risk students in the BSN Program.
- Supports nursing program admissions processes with evidence-based recommendations and feedback.
The following relates to operations and compliance:
- Ensures the provision of accurate data for regulatory and accrediting bodies.
- Coordinates program meetings, projects, and events to enhance program effectiveness and student engagement.
- Oversees the supervision of student workers and specialty projects related to TBSN academic advisement and student success.
The following relates to advocacy and outreach:
- Acts as a key advisor and advocate for students, particularly in navigating academic challenges.
- Leads outreach and advisement activities, maintaining strong communication with students and faculty.
Other Duties and Responsibilities: - Responsibilities include working some nights and weekends.
- Position includes occasional travel between Chalon and Doheny campuses.
- Perform outreach and advisement-related activities as directed.
- Work closely and collegially with the offices of Advisement, Admission, Registrar, Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Career Services, Financial Aid, the Business Office, and Coordinator of Inter-campus Transfers.
- Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge: - Understanding of academic policies and degree requirements in higher education.
- Knowledge of fundamental concepts and theories used in advising.
- Understanding of higher education testing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of Colleague system, TES, Transferology, Perceptive Content, Canva or similar systems preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Zoom, and Google docs.
Abilities and Skills: - Effectively organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines.
- Exercise sound judgment and decision-making.
- Very analytical, detail-oriented, and accurate.
- Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of a small, private, and diverse environment.
- Customer service orientated.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport and work well with diverse populations.
- Adheres to strict confidentiality and other ethical standards.
- Ability to manage stress and be flexible in a changing, fast-paced environment.
Education: - Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: - Minimum 1-year experience in an academic setting, preferably in academic advisement. Experience with articulation agreements desired.
