Job Description

Located in Rindge, NH, Franklin Pierce University (FPU) is close to Boston and New York City yet provides the natural beauty and safety of a rural campus, with access to outdoors activities, the arts, excellent educational options for families, and more.  The University possesses strengths such as a welcoming and inclusive community, growing health professions-related undergraduate and graduate programs on campus, online, and at four Centers across the U.S., a personalized and highly supportive approach to learning combined with a career-readiness model including internship elements, and the reputation as an NCAA Division II athletics powerhouse.

FPU seeks an experienced Vice President for Finance Administration & Chief Financial Officer (CFO), who reports directly to the President and supports the Board of Trustees.  The CFO provides leadership, management, and vision in the handling and stewardship of the University’s financial resources. The position carries broad responsibility for fiscal budgetary planning, financial records and reporting, investment strategy, cash management and management of institutional debt, as well as other relevant duties and administrative functions. The CFO and strong team ensure that timely, accurate financial information is gathered, analyzed, and communicated effectively, and implement financial policies that improve overall operations effectiveness.  The University endowment and associated investment strategies are also managed by the CFO in collaboration with the President and Board.   It is anticipated that the full-time start date will be around June, 2025.

Qualifications: A Master’s degree in business, finance, or a related field and experience in a senior level financial management capacity, preferably in higher education, is highly desirable, as is a professional qualification (CPA/CFA/CA). Demonstrated expertise in strategic financial planning, reporting, financial analysis, investment management, debt financing and all key financial issues facing colleges and universities today is expected.  Experience with state, federal and/or other regulatory entities is welcomed. The CFO must have good organizational, professional, and interpersonal skills, along with strengths in verbal and written communication.  A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail are essential.  With a current re-branding of the FPU and recent launch of a major fundraising campaign, the CFO will join FPU at a time of challenge, but also excitement, positive change, and entrepreneurial focus.

Relocation is available, and while this is primarily an on-campus position, a flexible work schedule is possible.  FPU offers competitive wages and benefits packages, including medical, dental and vision coverage, 403(b) retirement plan through TIAA, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, educational benefits (for employee and qualifying dependents), pet insurance, accident insurance, critical illness coverage, 160 hours of paid time off (PTO), with additional paid sick time for your well-being, and paid holidays.

Candidates should submit a cover letter, résumé, and contact information for three references (references will not be checked until the finalist stage of the search). FPU is committed to enhancing the diversity of its community in many realms and is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO). Find out more at .
