Small Animal Hospital Cleaner (ANML TCHN VMTH)

Job Summary

Under supervision of the Small Animal Nursing supervisor, clean, disinfect, sanitize and stock assigned areas according to established protocols. Monitor and record patient vital functions; maintain supply inventory and equipment; perform feeding, hospitalization and discharge procedures according to protocol.

RECRUITMENT PERIOD ONE MONTH: Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the removal date.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • No minimum license requirement.
  • No minimum education requirement.
  • Experience using and working with cleaning supplies in a professional environment.
  • Experience using cleaning equipment and agents.
  • Skills to maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of people, to include clients, clinicians, students and staff.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Education in veterinary technology or veterinary science.
  • Experience working as a veterinary assistant in a small animal hospital. Experience using safe animal handling and restraint techniques for a wide variety of patients.
  • Skill to assist in the performance of veterinary medical treatments and procedures.
  • Knowledge of common hospital pathogens and methods of disinfection.Knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes.

The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) is a unit that provides clinical case material in support of the teaching programs throughout the School of Veterinary Medicine on a 24-hour basis. Its primary objectives are to train professional (veterinary) students, graduate clinical students (interns and residents), and graduate academic students; to provide veterinary services to the public; to serve as a referral center for practicing veterinarians, and to advance veterinary medical knowledge.

    Work Environment
