Global Transaction Banking (GTB) First Line Credit Management - VP
New York, United States of America
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Manage transactions from start to finish including borrower ratings, transaction analysis, financial modelling, and presentation to credit committee
- Portfolio management of an assigned portfolio of large corporate clients including, covenant monitoring, early action memo on critical events, and periodic borrower reviews
- Develop a deep understanding of the assigned portfolio through close following of company developments, press releases and news reports
- Identify risk and mitigants and articulate them through written word and through incorporating them into the financial model
- Oversees internal approval process including ensuring accurate and timely completion of credit applications, borrower rating applications, annual and quarterly reviews
- Reviews relevant deal documents / information provided by Company / Sponsor, and third-party research reports
- Review credit documentation and synthesize into key terms and conditions, including syndicated and bilateral credit agreements, trade agreements, security agreements and ISDA/CSAs
- Develop credit recommendations which include clear views of credit structures and borrower’s risks
- Provides support to the broader Credit Team on continuous improvement initiatives and that support loan growth and efficiency objectives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience - Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, or equivalent field (Completion of a Formal Credit Training Program, MBA or CFA Charter is a Plus)
- 5+ years of experience with underwriting loan transactions and portfolio management. Trade Finance knowledge is a plus (Payables/ Receivables/ ECA/ Doc Trade)
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
- Experience in working with sub-investment grade clients and/or Portfolio Companies of Financial Sponsors is a plus
- Experienced in corporate valuation including Discounted Cash Flows analysis
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision and simultaneously manage multiple projects
- Ability to influence others by persuasively presenting thoughts and ideas to gain commitment and agreement for proposed ideas and solutions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Significant financial knowledge (Working capital cycle, cash flow forecasting, financial statement analysis, modelling etc.)
Skills and Abilities: - Superior client relationship, marketing presentation and sales/closing skills
- SME in commercial banking products and trade finance services (both credit and non-credit), competitor product lines and commercial compliance regulations
- Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, risk evaluation, loan documentation
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and leverage professional relationships internally and externally
- Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and ability to quickly learn new software and or systems
- Excellent business development and presentation skills
- Ability to maintain and demonstrate high ethical standards and personal integrity to build credibility and trust while enhancing the organization’s reputation
- Ability to translate customer needs into marketable product features
- Self-starter: forward thinking, with a positive/can-do attitude
- Demonstrates the ability to create strategic plans and lay out a strategic course of action to drive future business growth for a specific product
- Demonstrated understanding of product development life cycle
- S pecific trade related qualification (ideal)
- Understanding of mechanics, drivers and risks associated with Trade products (ideal)
- Understanding the competitive market and the role of technology within Trade finance (ideal)
- Capability to develop relationships inside the organization to collaborate across geographical boundaries (ideal)
- Additional languages (e.g., Spanish) (ideal)
- Previous exposure to operational Trade Finance areas (Middle Office, Back Office, Legal) (ideal)
- Experience in trade asset mobilization and other capital enhancing and credit risk mitigation techniques (ideal)
