We are seeking an SEO & GEO Specialist to join our marketing team. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the SEO & GEO Specialist will play a pivotal role in driving growth and maximizing revenue opportunities for our Ecommerce platform. This role requires a strategic thinker who can use SEO and GEO best practices to grow Merchology’s brand visibility and conversions across classic search (SEO) and AI answer engines (AEO/GEO).

Primary Responsibilities

A successful SEO & GEO Specialist will show skill in the following areas:

  • Implement technical and on-page SEO best practices (ex. Crawlability, canonicalization, information architecture such as headings, tables, schema markup) to increase visibility and authority on classic search engines and emerging AI answer engines.
  • Partner with Content and Ecommerce teams to optimize web content through copy updates, webpage creation, site organization, and information architecture (headings, tables, anchors) that site users and LLMs can scan.
  • Work closely with Ecommerce and Product Strategy teams to ensure products are optimized for search and online shopping experiences.
  • Partner with Ecommerce and Dev teams to monitor site health, identify technical issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal website performance.
  • Monitor daily performance metrics and use dashboards to understand and communicate SEO/GEO performance via analytics tools (e.g.. GA4, GSC, Looker Studio, SemrushOne, Graphite).
  • Conduct traditional keyword research as well as question/intent research with respect to AI answer engines to inform E-E-A-T website content that increases likelihood of authority-based citations.
  • Stay informed and educate internal stakeholders about the latest SEO/GEO trends and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Product, Ecommerce, and Marketing team members to align optimization strategies with broader business objectives, as well as ensure a seamless user experience.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience with ecommerce, digital marketing, or related roles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, draw actionable insights, and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (e.g. Shopify, Magento, Wordpress) and analytic tools (e.g. GA4).
  • Basic familiarity with HTML coding to support content optimization and technical SEO tasks.
  • Solid understanding of SEO/GEO principles and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented, metrics-driven mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapt to new trends and technologies in SEO/GEO and digital marketing.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a creative approach to problem solving.

Salary Description

$50,000-$58,000 annually
